If you are going to pull a
tanker carrying a load of liquids or compressed gas, a Tank Vehicle Endorsement
will be required on your CDL.
Federal Motor Carriers Safety
Regulation (FMCSR) Part 383 defines a "tank" as a vehicle carrying
liquids and compressed gases in bulk. Additionally, it states a tank
vehicle can be a permanently attached tank or it can be a portable tank.
Both types may hold 1,000 gallons of cargo or more.
When you drive a tank
vehicle, you must have the knowledge and skill to handle two problems: 1)
a high center of gravity and 2) liquid surge.
